Life & Death in a Victorian Gaol

Life & Death in a Victorian Gaol

I will be in authentic costume and tell of life in a Victorian gaol. Discover what the term "hard labour" really meant. Learn the difference between a prison and a gaol, and between a convict and a prisoner. Hear all the grisly details of how corporal and capital punishment was meted out.

The presentation will be illustrated with items from the Victorian penal system, which the audience is encouraged to handle.

This presentation has been featured on Radio Suffolk.

I MUST be able to park (not unload/load then park a distance away) AT your venue entrance. If this cannot be arranged then I'm afraid that I cannot accept the booking.

This presentation is NOT suitable for Zoom.

The cost is £50 plus travelling costs. The travelling costs will be stated from the outset so there will be no nasty surprises. Payment is at the time of the presentation, or within 7 days if a prior agreement has been made. An Invoice will be supplied.

Thank you for such an interesting talk, making history come alive. Facts can be boring when presented in a monotone whereas . . . . - Helen Richardson, Suffolk Family History Society
