Founded over 2,000 years ago, it is not surprising that the town entertains its fair share of ghosts, ghoulies and things that go bump in the night! Thetford dates back to Saxon times and, beneath the town on the north side of the river, there lies a network of tunnels. There is most definitely a darker side to Thetford, with tales of murder, mystery, ghosts and legends.
I have led the Thetford Ghost Walks, Heritage Walks and History Walks for Leaping Hare for some 8 years. Whilst I will continue leading the Heritage and History Walks for Leaping Hare, I have taken over the Ghost Walks.
Feeling brave? Then walk with me through the darkened streets and alleyways, and you never know who, or perhaps what, you may encounter!
This evening walking tour of Thetford's haunted locations lasts approximately 90 minutes. The route is manageable by wheelchair users and can be enjoyed by the whole family.
The Ghost Walks cost £7.50 per person, take place on Tuesday evenings and we meet in front of King's House, King Street (behind the Thomas Paine statue) at 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start. We set off when everyone is present, and at 6:30pm at the absolute latest.
Please Note that people participating in the Ghost Walk do so at their own risk and no liability is accepted. There are no toilet facilities on the Walk route and it is recommended that participants wear stout shoes or boots.
